Andrew Leach, Mail on Sunday,
THE Beatles are still raking in millions of pounds, 25 years after they
split up. According to the latest accounts from their company, Apple
Corps, annual profits were £1.4m on turnover that jumped to £11.8m from
£8.6m the year before. The company exploits all activities relating to the Fab Four, from
music
through to visual assets such as posters and videos.
Though profits were slightly down on the £1.6m the previous year, the
two
surviving Beatles and the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison
received higher payments for promotional services. Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison received
£1.7m each in the year to the end of January 2004, up from £1.3m a year
earlier.
