Madonna did it, so perhaps it’s no surprise Sir Paul McCartney is
turning his hand to children’s books. High in the Clouds , which will be
published later this year, tells the story of Wirral the Squirrel whose
woodland is destroyed by developers. ‘Sure to become an enduring
classic,’ gushes the publisher. An eager nation awaits.

Bubble and friends salute Revolver again!
March 20th, 2005 by | No Comments | Filed in UncategorizedTurn off your mind, relax and float downstream! On Saturday, March 26th,
the legendary NYC power-pop band Bubble – along with friends Nellie
Mckay, Brian Dewan and many many other talented Beatlemaniacs – will once
again salute the classic 1966 Beatles album Revolver. There are two
shows: one for kids at 6pm (parents too), and one just for the parents at
8 – at the Baggot Inn, 82 West 3rd Street in Greenwich Village,
Manhattan. Tickets are available at
http://www.instantseats.com/.
The LP will be performed as it was meant to be heard, song-for-song,
strum-for-strum, in a reprise of Bubble’s January Arlene’s Grocery
“Classic Album Night” performance. Along with Nellie Mckay and
Brian Dewan, scheduled to perform are Joe Pecorino (the “John”
from the original cast of Beatlemania!), Courtney Lee Adams Jr., Chris
Rael (from Church of Betty), Serena Jost, plus many “Losers” of
“Loser’s Lounge” fame, including Wilder Selzer, Jed Parish,
Julian Maile, Lianne Smith, Mark Rinzel And Cathy Cervenka. And backing
them up will be Dave Foster – playing lots of guitar and singing his
Beatle-loving butt off – and the rest of Bubble, including drummer Tom
Devito, guitarist/vocalist Jon Spurney, and bassist/vocalist Alec Cumming
(formerly of The Sharp Things). There will be horns, strings, love,
Beatles cartoons, videos, many surprises, and yes, A Splendid Time
Guaranteed For All.
Bubble will also present two Beatle songs not on Revolver – the #1 single
“Paperback Writer” – as performed by Ms. McKay – and
“Rain”. Both songs would have fit very neatly on the album, as
they were recorded during the same set of Abbey Road sessions in the
spring of ‘66.
