Picasso ‘is taken from Mills home by Sir Paul’
Posted by under Uncategorized
Police have declined to intervene in the latest dispute between the former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney
and his estranged wife Heather Mills.
Sussex Police said yesterday that they were called to Miss Mills’s home on the couple’s 933-acre
estate after claims that Sir Paul had removed paintings worth £10 million — including a Picasso
and a Renoir.
Miss Mills, 38, arrived at her house on Sir Paul’s estate near Peasemarsh, East Sussex, and set off
the burglar alarm, according to a report yesterday. She found that the alarm codes had been changed
and the paintings and photographs of the couple’s daughter, Bea, had been removed.
Sir Paul, 64, later informed the ex-model by text that he had taken the paintings because he was
worried about security at her lodge house, according to the report.
Friends said the couple had collected the paintings together. But art world insiders said they
believed the paintings could have belonged to Sir Paul’s first wife, Linda, who died in 1998.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “There was no criminal offence. They have been advised to contact
their solicitors. It’s a civil matter.”
