There will be a rare UK cinema screening of Concert for George at the Regal Picturehouse in Henley-on-Thames on Sunday 25 February 2006.

Showing as part of the cinema’s tenth anniversary celebrations, the event pays tribute to Harrison’s active campaigning to keep a cinema open in Henley after the town’s previous cinema was scheduled for demolition.

Filmed at the Albert Hall on 29 November 2002, the first anniversary of Harrison’s death, Concert for George records a seminal concert staged in aid of The Material World Charitable Foundation, which Harrison founded in 1973. The concert boasts a host of A-list musicians including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Jools Holland, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, performing some of Harrison’s best-loved songs. The film has not been seen in UK cinemas for several years and its appearance at the Regal offers a rare opportunity to enjoy it on the big screen. This special screening was made possible with the generous assistance of Olivia and Dhani Harrison who have brought a copy of the film over from America especially for this event, which takes place on what would have been Harrison’s sixty-fourth birthday.

The show starts at 6pm on Sunday 25 February at the Regal Picturehouse, Boroma Way, Henley-on-Thames. Tickets are on sale now and can be booked in person at the cinema, online at www.picturehouses.co.uk or by calling the box office on 08707 551 245.
