Radio station conducts 50-something poll
By Laura Katz
netmusiccountdown.com — What do Gnarls Barkley, Led Zeppelin and John Lennon have in common? They’ve all made the list of 50 favorite pop songs for people over 50.
According to BBC News, 3,760 baby boomers took the poll, which was conducted by the UK’s Smooth Radio network.
John Lennon’s “Imagine” lead the way in first place, Chris DeBurgh’s “Lady In Red” came in second, Zep’s “Stairway To Heaven” was in third, Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” landed at number four and Gnarls Barkley took fifth place.
The Beatles didn’t make it into the top ten, but had 5 songs appearing on the list. Most of the top 50 tunes came from the 1960’s.
