Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Peppers’ Turns 40 with Special Event

August 6th, 2007 by admin | Filed under News.

They are a little late with this celebration aren’t they?  It looks like they missed the actual anniversary of Sgt. Pepper, but I guess it’s also a celebration of the Summer of Love itself.  It still is summer right?  They are bringing out all sorts of special guests to celebrate the seminal rock album (arguably of course).  As I have told many of you, dear readers, I’m not always a huge fan of tribute acts, but somehow this one is a little different.

Cheap Trick is acting as the house band, of sorts, for this celebration. If they were rockin’ enough for John Lennon on Double Fantasy, then I couldn’t imagine anyone more qualified or fitting to “host” the event celebrating their musical heroes.  It seems like it will be a truly
fun event.  It’s just a shame that we were never able to see the Beatles perform the album live themselves.  This may be as close as we get.
It looks like we may get an actual Beatle sighting too.
