PRIVATE equity group Terra Firma has won control of British music company EMI, the world’s third-biggest music company whose artists include The Beatles, after securing 90pc of its shares.

Terra Firma’s bid valued EMI at £3.2bn including debt, and followed a lengthy takeover tussle with US music group Warner Music.

The takeover was backed by management at EMI, whose artists also include Janet Jackson, Radiohead and Robbie Williams.
