There is also a quote from Lennon’s murderer: “I was nobody until I killed the biggest somebody on Earth.” In light of the latest inquiry into Princess Diana’s death, I couldn’t help observing how difficult it is for the famous to die. Lennon shot 27 years ago today

lennon-new-standard.jpgIt was 27 years ago today that former Beatle John Lennon was shot dead by a gunman who opened fire outside the musician’s New York apartment.

The 40-year-old was shot several times as he entered the Dakota, his luxury apartment building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, opposite Central Park, at 2300 local time.
He was rushed in a police car to St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, where he died.
