Paul McCartney Takes Route 66 – Entertainment News Story – KXAS | Dallas

OKLAHOMA CITY — Drivers on U.S. Route 66 might want to be on the lookout for a 1989 Ford Bronco — but the driver isn’t dangerous.

It’s Paul McCartney, who appears to be driving the old Route 66 from Illinois to California on vacation with his girlfriend, Nancy Shevell.

The Oklahoman of Oklahoma City reports McCartney and Shevell stopped in Nonna’s Euro-American Ristorante and Bar Tuesday.

“What the El” Editorial:

You know some people were shocked to see him just driving around Oklahoma.

The catering and banquet manager, John Burruss, says they dined on salad, tomato soup and a special request of spinach quiche, which isn’t on the menu.

Burruss says the restaurant had about 14 functions that day and they weren’t going to make the quiche, but he changed his mind, and when he found out who it was for, he’s glad he did.

He says McCartney liked it so much he says they’ll come back on their way through again.

Paul’s latest collaboration – Yusef Islam (the former Cat Stevens)

(8/10/2008) Yusef Islam, the former Cat Stevens, has revealed on his site that he invited Paul McCartney to sing with him on a newly recorded track called “Boots & Sand” at a London recording session recently. The site describes the song as “written by Yusuf about the ‘No-Fly List’ saga when, together with his daughter, he was refused entry to the USA in 2004. Drawing on diametric influences from Nashville and Liverpool-rock sounds, Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss and Terry Sylvester also feature on what promises to be a classic.” (Thanks to C.D.)
