Beatles pay tribute to Anthology producer Chips Chipperfield

(8/16/2008, updated 10:15 a.m. ET 8/16/08) Chips Chipperfield, who produced the Beatles Anthology and won a 1996 Grammy Award (along with Neil Aspinall, Bob Smeaton, Geoff Wonfor and The Beatles for Best Long Form Music Video for the project), and also produced documentaries on Paul McCartney (”Liverpool Oratorio” from PBS’ “Great Performances”, “Put It There”), Jimi Hendrix (”Hendrix: Band of Gypsies”), the Pet Shop Boys, Elizabeth Taylor and The Who, has died after a heart attack suffered Tuesday in Ireland, reports musicweek.com. He was 65.

The Beatles issued the following statement on their website:

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Chips Chipperfield, who has sadly passed away. Chips was the Grammy award winning producer of the Beatles Anthology, and a long serving member of the Apple Corps family. Warm, wise and kind, he was loved and respected by all those who worked with him. His youthful spirit and enthusiasm for life will continue to be an inspiration to all those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all of us.

Yoko Ono artwork headed to Pasadena this summer (till Nov. 9th)

Yoko Ono’s post-Beatles-era career continues to flourish, and a piece of her art is headed to Pasadena this summer. Visitors will be invited to write their wishes on paper and hang them on the tree branches. The wishes from Pasadena will later be placed with others from all over the world and buried at the Imagine Peace Tower in Iceland.
