Beatles foto’s uit een kippenschuur

Hij tourde twee en een half jaar rond met The Beatles, fotografeerde grootheden als Salvador Dali en Mick Jagger en versloeg oorlogen in Cambodja en Vietnam. Fotograaf Robert Whitaker is in zijn leven al op heel wat bijzondere plekken geweest. Dit weekend is hij voor het eerst in Zwolle waar hij bij IQ Kunstuitleen zeefadrukken van de ‘Fab Four’, de Beatels, signeert.

“All Together Now” DVD

Thumbs down: This DVD documentary released by EMI Music last week recounts how the surviving Beatles (Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, plus Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono), producers George and Giles Martin, and Cirque du Soleil worked together (sort of) to assemble the Cirque reworking of Beatles music into the “Love” stage production at The Mirage in Las Vegas.

I attended a theater screening of the film and, while Beatles devotees surely will be captivated by old Fab Four clips interspersed within, the story behind the creation of this colorful production is less than compelling even when projected on a big screen.
