Joe Walsh is in the studio with Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, Don Was, others

Joe Walsh has posted a photograph of himself, in the studio, with an all-star lineup that includes the Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger, the Beatles’ Ringo Starr, super-producer Don Was and others.

“Cooking up something here at Capitol Records!” Walsh says, via Facebook. “I think you’ll like it.”

Walsh and Starr, who are brothers in law, have appeared on several previous projects together — including Walsh’s newest solo effort, Analog Man. Walsh was produced Starr’s 1983 album Old Wave, and was a member of the 1989 edition of Ringo’s All-Starr band.

Amongst the other people in the new photo: Bassist Tal Wilkenfeld, who has worked with Jeff Beck as well as Steve Lukather, a member of the latest All-Starr band; and legendary sessions drummer Jim Keltner. Also involved: next-generation bluesman Keb Mo, Hammond B-3 whiz Mike Finnegan and R&B pedal steel player Robert Randolph. Later, Walsh added a shot of himself with Bill Withers (of “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Lean On Me,” and “Just the Two of Us” fame) in the studio.

Meanwhile, Wilkenfeld posted her own photograph, from the same sessions, with Don Was using her bass as a hat stand. A highlight, she says, was when she “wrote a song with Bill Withers, Mick Jagger, Keb Mo and Joe Walsh.”

Was has produced Jagger and the Rolling Stones, Starr and Bob Dylan, among others, and also serves as president of Blue Note Records.
