The fashion designer describes the monarch as looking “very chic” as she collects her award at Buckingham Palace.
Stella McCartney has labelled the Queen “chic” after being awarded an OBE by the 86-year-old monarch.
The daughter of former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney said at Buckingham Palace: “She looks very chic I thought, beautiful.” Then she added laughing: “It should have been Stella McCartney of course – I slipped her a card.”
The designer said that the Queen had told her “You’ve been busy”, to which she replied: “Not as busy as you are.”
Stella McCartney, who designed the Team GB and Paralympic GB Olympic kit, said: “I feel amazing. I told the Queen I designed the kit for her nation.
“It’s pretty high up there and marks an incredible moment in your life.”
One of those to wear the McCartney-designed outfits, Victoria Pendleton, was also at the Palace to pick up an OBE.
“When I picked up an MBE in 2008 it was a bit of a whirlwind visit and I didn’t quite take it all in,” the queen of the velodrome told Sky News.
“This time I was more excited as the Queen presented me with my honour and said ‘here’s another one for your collection’.”
