Rock legend plans double treat on debut

BRITISH rock musician Denny Laine will make his Bahrain debut at two separate concerts this weekend.

The legendary 1960s multi-instrumentalist will perform alongside bassist and mandolin player Alan Thomson and percussionist Jeff Allan at both concerts.

Denny Laine put the mood in Moody Blues and helped Wings to fly

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark has announced on its Web site that Denny Laine, originally advertised to perform at the center’s Hippiefest show on Feb. 1, is being replaced by Joey Molland’s Badfinger. Still scheduled to perform at Hippiefest are Melanie, the Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie, Terry Sylvester, Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals and Country Joe McDonald.Many rock fans think of Denny Laine as the “other man” in Wings, the band Paul McCartney formed with his wife, Linda McCartney, after the breakup of The Beatles.

But Laine’s own ’60s pedigree as a founding member of the Moody Blues � Laine sang on the Moodys’ 1965 hit, “Go Now!” � stands on its own merit.

Paul and Denny Laine bury the hatchet

It seems that former Wings bandmates Paul McCartney and Denny Laine have buried the hatchet and rekindled their 30-year-old friendship, according to Denny’s My Space page. The pair fell out when Wings’ tour of Japan in January 1980 got cancelled, after McCartney was arrested at the airportdocument.write(flat(’noissessop anaujiram rof ‘)); for marijuana possession.
