HEATHER MILLS told today how she is taking part in TV ice-skating contest Dancing On Ice to prove to her daughter she is not "a disabled mum that can’t do anything".

Mills, the former wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney with whom she has six-year-old Beatrice, also said she wanted to inspire others who, like her, use prosthetic limbs.

The businesswoman, who is the patron of the Hunts Point Alliance charity which helps impoverished children in The Bronx, New York, is among 14 celebrities to compete in the ITV1 competition which starts on Sunday.

At the programme’s launch today she said: "The charity’s been suffering a lot, I’ve been funding it always and they said they’d give us a good fee for the charity so I thought that would be good.

"The other reason I did it is, I’ve got 6,000 amputees on my website who look to me for inspirational things to do, jumping out of planes or skiing down a mountain so I thought this would be a really good one try. I didn’t realise it would be the hardest thing ever to do."

Mills lost part of her left leg after being hit by a motorcycle in 1993 and has used prosthetics ever since.

She and McCartney split in 2006 and divorced two years later after a high-profile court case in which Mills was awarded an estimated sum of s24.3 million.

She said her ex-husband had "lots of support" for her decision to enter the competition and that their daughter was looking forward to it.

"My daughter is so excited, she’s already got a matching little leotard made up to match me and she’s just learnt to ice-skate.

"Now I can take her ice-skating and she’s not going to have a disabled mum that can’t do anything with her."

Mills added that she was not worried about being voted out by the public.

She said: "To be honest I don’t know what the public perception is, I just know what the media perception is. What I know is that I’ve had nothing but people coming up to me in the streets and telling me,’we’re there for you, we’re rooting for you’. The underdog, the David and Goliath thing has created a huge amount of support from people and affection, and it’s been quite overwhelming actually.

"People relate to things you’ve gone through so it will be very interesting to see whether they are the people that watch the show."

Training has been tough on former model Mills, who has so far injured her ribs, shoulder and pelvis.

"There’s not much else left to break. Until I puncture a lung I’m going to carry on.

"The only bonus to it is that I’ve been injured so much in my life that I’m good at healing," she said.

Mills, who has taken part in the American version of Strictly Come Dancing, also insisted the judges would not treat her any differently to the other contestants.

"The judges won’t take it into account. Len (Goodman) and Bruno (Tonioli) didn’t in America, if anything they were tougher because they were telling me to worry about my upper body… My weakness was always my upper body because I was so worried about my lower body."

Strict vegan Mills said she had brought vegan cakes to the studios for everyone to eat and that she may even pass on a few recipes to fellow competitor Tana Ramsay to pass on to her TV chef husband Gordon.

She joked: "I think I’ll give her some recipes to teach him how to cook. It’s easy to cook fat and sugar and meat and all that, it’s hard to cook healthy. I know he’s anti-veggie but that’s probably because he can’t cook properly."

Heather Mills’s one-woman fight against alleged victimisation by the British tabloids and hounding by the paparazzi appears to be bearing fruit, with four newspapers publishing corrections to stories they had written about her in the past two weeks. A fifth paper has written to her privately to apologise for its coverage.

In April 2008 Sir Paul McCartney’s former wife used a live appearance on GMTV to call on the British public to boycott the tabloids, claiming she had considered killing herself over their coverage. The Sun ran a front-page story questioning the former model’s sanity.

A flurry of stories detailed Mills’s allegedly outrageous behaviour and spending habits, but the tabloids had already cast Mills as a villain during her long and acrimonious divorce battle with McCartney.

Her quest to hold Fleet Street to account seemed like a fight she couldn’t win, but the present flurry of clarifications comes after Mills’s lawyers wrote to the Press Complaints Commission, highlighting half-a-dozen reports they claimed were inaccurate. Most of them were published in a two-week period immediately before the complaint was lodged.

They claimed, among other things, that Mills had undergone surgery to increase the size of her breasts, spent millions of pounds awarded as part of her divorce settlement on a swimming pool, and had started to date a friend, but all of those claims, and several more, have now been retracted. Mills’s complaints have prompted corrections from the Daily Express, which conceded on 21 January that it had been wrong to claim in an article last November that Mills’s daughter, Beatrice, “was to join her father Sir Paul singing on the forthcoming Shrek soundtrack”. The Daily Mirror ran a similar apology this week, correcting a story, also published in November 2008, which wrongly reported that Beatrice “was singing on Paul’s new album”, and the latest edition of its Sunday sister title carried a clarification on its letters page.

“Following our article on 16 November which stated that Heather Mills had recently had a third boob job, Heather Mills has asked us to point out that she had not had breast enlargement surgery,” it read. “Furthermore, we wish to clarify that Ms Mills has not spent £1m on a swimming pool and has not spent £6m on other properties.”

London Lite conceded on 8 January that it should not have implied Mills was romantically involved with Marc Sinden, after they were photographed visiting the Tate together, and apologised “for any distress caused”. Mills’s representatives also told the PCC she had been hounded by the photographer who took the shot and, although the paper denied he had been following her, it also “undertook to be more vigilant about the background of photographs of the complainant submitted to its picture desk”, according to a PCC ruling made this week. The article has also been removed from its website.

According to sources close to the PCC, the Daily Mail has written to Mills to apologise for another story. Mills is thought to have objected to several comment pieces that refer to her daughter.

Earlier this week, Heather Mills’ former nanny filed a claim against the one-legged blonde for ’sexual discrimination, intimidation and constructive dismissal’. In addition to her nanny duties, the ex-employee was asked to do extra things like spray tan Mucca’s naked body and reporting into work at 7.30 am to blow dry the golddigger’s hair.

Well, sources close to Mucca report that she’s currently in a ‘black hole of rage’.

They say she’s beside herself with fury at the ‘betrayal’ by somebody she regarded as a close friend, at a time when she was beginning to think that the ‘bad old days’ were behind her.

Mucca’s new mouthpiece said she’s ‘devastated’.

“For years she has treated Sara (the former nanny) as a member of the family,” said the flack.

If what the nanny says is true, we’d be disowned by our family members if we treated any of them that way!

It’s also reported that Mucca has already spent $14.5 million of the $30 million she got in the divorce from former Beatle Paul McCartney.

We wonder if the former nanny will get herself a nice big chunk of the remaining divorce settlement bucks.

Heather Mills has had a THIRD boob job – after she was stung by comments about her “wonky” cleavage.

Paul McCartney’s ex had the operation to even up her breasts after unkind remarks about the way she looked on the red carpet at a Miss USA pageant, where she wore a green velvet dress with a plunging neckline.

The former glamour model, who won £24.3million in her divorce settlement, had a breast reduction in her 20s then a lift after the birth of her and Sir Paul’s daughter Beatrice in 2003.

“Heather was a model before she met Paul and she wants to make sure she still looks good,” said a friend. “She has spoken about having surgery before and it’s something she’s pretty comfortable with.”

Since the split, Heather, 40, has splashed out on more than her appearance. She spent £1million on a pool for her mansion, bought a £2.5m home in New York and spent a further £6m on other properties.

She currently lives in East Sussex with boyfriend Jamie Walker, 36, a holiday rep she met in Tenerife.

The former model, the ex-wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, has enjoyed several dates with Marc Sinden but is keen to keep the fledgling relationship under wraps.

A source said: “They met a while ago through mutual friends and have seen each other a number of times.”

Heather has told friends the West End producer, who is the son of British actor Sir Donald Sinden, is her “total confidante”.

The pair went to London’s Playhouse Theatre last week to watch ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ and were seen arm-in-arm as they left the venue.

Heather and Marc – who is worth an estimated £1.8 million – then went to Covent Garden and had dinner at the Joe Allen restaurant.

The pair were seen together again last weekend, when they visited London’s Tate Modern museum to look at the Rothko exhibition.

Marc was previously romantically linked to Sir Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Jerry Hall.

Heather Mills reportedly believes that a swimming pool she had built without planning consent could prove valuable to local firefighters.

Planning officers ordered Mills to submit plans for the feature, which she installed at her home in Robertsbridge, East Sussex, without permission.

Mills’s agent David Bailey told the Rye and Battle Observer the pool could be a life-saver.

“In an emergency it could be used by the fire brigade,” he said.

Meanwhile, chairman of Salehurst and Robertsbridge Parish Council, David Allen, said that local residents would meet next month to discuss the matter before it goes to the authority.
